First Week: Family

This week spend some time every day praying with an extreme focus on yourself and your family. Pray for the people you live with and spend the majority of your time with. Pray for yourself, your spouse, your marriage, your future marriage, your children, your future children, your parents, brothers, sisters, etc. Pray for your home and all that live in it. Pray for God to move in your life and in the life of your entire family.

Weekly Scripture: Ephesians 3:14-21

For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more that all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever!

Day 2: Prayer for Inner Strength

So many times as we read scripture we skim through extremely powerful concepts and don’t take a minute to consider what we just read. In Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians, above, he prays for some extremely powerful things. But before he prays for those things he prays this…

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being…” 

Paul was praying for their hearts to be strengthened with power so they could receive all that God wanted to do in their life. He was praying for their hearts and minds to be prepared and strengthened so they could handle all the other prayers he prayed afterwards and most importantly for their hearts to be prepared for Christ.

At the end of this prayer, Paul finishes with, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…”

The awesome thing about God is in our wildest imagination we still have no idea what God really wants to do in our lives. Paul’s prayer is for God’s Spirit to strengthen our inner being with power so we can be prepared for the things we can’t even imagine.

So today pray the prayer of inner strength and preparation for yourself, your family and all those closest to you. Spend a few minutes truly praying in your own way for God to strengthen you and your family with power. Pray and then get excited for all the amazing things God is going to do in your life.

Prayer of Inner Strength: 

“I pray that my inner being will be strengthened with power through the Spirit of God. Lord, I don’t know what all you want to do in my life. I can’t begin to imagine but God, prepare my heart and my mind so that I can know Christ more. Strengthen the deepest part of me so I can know the deepest part of you.”
